Dear Miss Schmidt:

I feel very guilty about my inability, at the present time, to do anything about the memorandum I promised to prepare for you on the basis of the very helpful information which came with your letter of January 27th.

Actually, I am pretty much in a jam because of a prior commitment to complete something by March first. As soon as that is out of the way I shall turn promptly to your memorandum.

Also, may I thank you very much for the help you gave me in checking up on the authenticity of the Waugh painting. Although I have not yet had a chance to follow your suggestion, I shall do so very soon.

Cordially yours,

J. Frederic Dewhurst
