Dear Dorothy

Auguri! , for the new year.

Imagine, I just received your letter, dated 14 Dec.!

" venice",! they'd say with a shrug at the postoffice if I complained. Responsability for the most unlikely things, is attributed to "il sirocco","il fegato",humidity", or plain "Venezia",. My influenza , that has been lasting fifteen days now (bronchitis) is caused by "humidity". I only exagerate a little, and anyway I like practically everything here.

I am happy you liked my paintings.

I called (thank you) the number of Marietta Stern, but she moved and neither the person who has her former number nor Information , could tell me how to locate her.

I shall ask Peggy Guggenheim, when she returns., who talked to me some time ago, about a roumanian, trying to sell a Brancusi, called Stern, Allthough the descriptions dont match, these two elements seem enough . I know very few people here. Tomorrow I shall have the visit of a group of young Fullbright scholars, during the hours when my fever is low.

So many of my friends have complained about my handwriting that I tought myself to type, not very well as you can see and , I hope , forgive.

I wonder if you are coming here in the spring? I am living in the house of DE PIsis , his niece is [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] also a painter , lets it, to painters mostlv, often americans.

It would be nice if you did!

Again my best wishes and love

Yours
Hedda
Sterne

Transcription Notes:
