Miss Marion Sanford,
204 W. 13th St.,
New York City

Dear Miss Sanford:

[
]I write this letter with distinct pleasure.[
] Our Committee on Exhibition have just made decisions with regard to purchases from the 137th Annual Exhibition and it is my province as Secretary to advise you that they are purchasing for the Gilpin Fund you piece of sculpture entitled "Harvest".

[
]A check for $170. ($200., the price quoted [
] by you less 15% sales commission) will be sent to you in a few days when the formality of signatures can be completed.

[
]Your piece is, of course, in plaster and [
]it will be necessary to put it into a permanent material for preservation. We have already discussed this matter with Walker Hancock and are inclined to the thought that it should be fired in terra cotta. This would seem an excellent solution particularly because of the delightful color of the patine which you have on your plaster and which would be most nearly duplicated in that material.

[
]We have estimated that the cost would not[
] go beyond $150. to have this work accomplished, but I should be very glad to hear from you as to your own preference and ask you to look into this matter and advise us.

[
]It goes without saying that we are delighted[
] over the prospect of this addition to our Collection. Your piece has been universally admired, both by the laymen and particularly by your fellow-sculptors, and we feel very proud indeed to have it with us here always.
             Very sincerely yours,
[[signature of Joseph T. Fraser, Jr.]]
