MARION SANFORD'S [Grand Central; to May 16] principal works in her first one man exhibition of sculpture since 1937 are various examples of her "Women at Work" series in bronze, stone, and plaster which is intended to show the beauty, rhythm, and dignity of female occupations. For these she received a Guggenheim Fellowship. Her knowledge of anatomy and her visual grasp of complex, momentary poses give variety and interest to the conservative, slightly ennobled realism of these statues. In BUTTER WOMAN, with its skillful, balanced interplay of energy and movement, she is at her best. Also included in this show are some portrait heads which are good reporting. $100-$2,500.
