It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our friend, Roy De Forest, who died on May 18 following a brief illness. He was 77.

Roy, who was born into a Nebraska farmworker family during the Great Depression, became one of the most important and original American artists of his generation. He was a longtime professor of art at the University
