LOTUS ROBB DIES; FORMER ACTRESS
Appeared Here in 20's and 30's--Wife of M.C. Ross

Mrs. Marvin C. Ross, who, under her maiden name of Lotus Robb, was a well-known actress here in the nineteen-twenties and nineteen-thirties, died yesterday in the Georgetown University Hospital, Washington. She lived in that city.

Miss Robb was last seen here in 1945 with Walter Hampden in "And By My Love," an autumnal romance. She had also appeared opposite George Arliss in "The Green Goddess."

She was born in Springfield, Mo., attended the Annie Wright Seminary in Tacoma, Wash., and got her early acting experience with stock companies.

In New York, she became a leading lady for Theater Guild and other productions. Among the plays in which she appeared prominently were "Why Marry?", "Fair and Warmer," "Rollo's Wild Oat," "The Constant Nymph" and "Kempy." She portrayed Lydia Languish in an all-star revival of Sheridan's "The Rivals."

Miss Robb had been a leading lady of Roland Young, Nat Goodwin and Elliott Nugent.

Alexander Woollcott wrote of her: "Almost any account of her doings that is made in the notebook of this reviewer will contain at least one reference to the month of May and two references to trailing arbutus."

George Jean Nathan called her "the strawberries and cream of Broadway,"

She had been married to the late Robert Hudson, an actor, and the late George C. Smith of Street and Smith Publications before her marriage to Mr. Ross, an art historian who is now curator of the art collections of Mrs. Merriweather Post in Washington.

Surviving besides her husband, is a daughter, Mrs. James Thomas Flexner of New York, and a granddaughter.

A requiem mass will be offered tomorrow at 10 A.M. in St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Woodleigh Road, Washington.
