Mr. Richard F. Brown
Chief Curator of Art
Los Angeles County Museum
Exposition Park
Los Angeles 7, California

Dear Mr. Brown:

I have your letter of June 6 and the photograph of the early Miró? Never having seen the actual picture it is impossible for me to tell from the photograph whether the picture is really Miró's or not. It seems entirely possible that this might be one of his very first works. What I suggest is that you write Miró himself and send him the photograph. Miró, unlike many artists, is extraordinarily conscientious in these matters and I am sure would answer your letter. The best address to use is:

M. Joan Miró
Son Abrines
Cala Mayor, Palms
Mallorca, Balaeres, SPAIN

I am sorry not to be more helpful, but I think this is the safest course of action for you and Mr. Feitelson to follow. Since Miró is an old friend of mine perhaps it would help to mention my name in your letter.

With kindest regards,

Sincerely,
James Soby
