FEITELSON ON ART - new series : ART IN THE 20TH CENTURY

#2 - Sunday, April 3rd - GEORGE BELLOWS (1882 - 1925)
The most famous and popular American artist of his time, George Bellows was accorded a great memorial exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum when his brilliant career ended prematurely in 1925, at the age of 43. Called "the most American painter" of his generation, he never went abroad, but preferred to draw his inspiration from the American scene. One of his masterpieces, "The Cliff Dwellers", depicting New York tenements of 1913, will be loaned by the Los Angeles Museum for this presentation.
