FEITELSON ON ART: April 24th broadcast ANNOUNCER: Fauvism was the first important art movement of the 20th century. First seen as a group in the Salon d'Automne exhibition of 1905, the painters' bold use of shockingly pure color and emotionally composed line scandalized the art world, and inspired the critic Vauxcelles to name them the "fauves", or "wild beasts". Today Lorser Feitelson will present a critical analysis and evaluation of this exciting, but short-lived, movement.
