‡ Note.  Fourteen years' use of a Marble slab had [[strikethrough]] been so much worn, that the [[/strikethrough]] worn it in the center to the depth of three quarters of an Inch. The Muller was a hard black pebble & the slab a black Marble: All this black lime had been ground into the paints prepared by them: Whereas with the glass slab & Muller there is no perceptible wear & glass [[strikethrough]] in the colours would not defile them [[/strikethrough]] which can possibly defile the colours.
