Mr Horace Pippin

Dear Mr Pippin

You will not recall me, but I met you at the Bignou gallery at your one man show last spring.

A year ago I put on an exhibition of "Unknown" at the Museum of Modern Art & now I'm writing a book on "American Primitive Painters of the XXth Century" and I want to include you & your work in this book. There are to be 20 painters included and I believe Id like to reproduce your "End of the war - starting home" picture. I have a photo of it but I will want a glossy print photo of yourself in front of your easel and a painting on the easel.

Now this is what I want to know. Have you ever painted a picture of Abe Lincoln if so that is the painting which I'd like to see you in front. The photo need not be too large but it must be clear &
