Dear Mr. Carlen:

I read your letter with a great deal of interest. Undoubtedly the paintings to which you refer are outstanding and well worth consideration. However, at the present time I am not adding to my collection, due to the fact that my home is undergoing drastic changes, including the addition of an art gallery wing.

With all best wishes, believe me,

Yours very sincerely,
