THE ARTS CLUB OF CHICAGO 400 NORTH MICHIGAN AVENUE TELEPHONE SUPERIOR 7272 CABLE ADDRESS "ARTCLUB" May 28, 1941 Mr. Robert Carlen Carlen Galleries 323 South 16th Street Philadelphia, Pa. My dear Mr. Carlen: Your card is received and we are pleased to hear that you and Mr. Pippin returned safely. Thank you for your appreciative words in connection with the exhibit. We have already mailed each of you a supply of catalogues and we have also mailed copies to all the lenders. As to the newspaper clippings, we shall send you these as they appear. We find that our framer cannot adequately repair the broken frame on one of the burnt wood panels (mentioned in our previous letter) and we shall therefore return it to you and ask that you have your framer repair it in a manner satisfactory to you and render us the bill. It was a great pleasure to have had both you and Mr. Pippin at the opening, and his presence of course rendered added interest to the show for all our members and their friends. Personally I was very glad to meet him and found him most "sympathique". With kind regards, I am Sincerely yours, Alice F. Roullier Chairman, Exhibition Committee AFR:IJ
