Mr. Robert Carlen,
323 S. 16th Street,
Philadelphia, Pa.

Dear Mr. Carlen:-

One of our former students is assistant curator at the San Francisco Museum of Art and he has asked me if it is possible to have an exhibition of Pippin's work there next season. I hope you can not only do this but give it preference to all other possible places of exhibition because three of the best students we ever had are located in San Francisco, teaching at the University of California and forming practically the working basis of the Museum.

I know that most of Pippin's good paintings have been sold and I would not want anything but first-class examples to be shown at San Francisco. I presume that Pippin will have a number of good paintings by the fall and if you agree to the idea, I shall be very glad to help select the ones to be shown.

Yours very truly,
Albert Barnes
