Dear Sirs:

The Albany Institute of History and Art would like to borrow for its exhibit of Paintings and Sculpture by Negro American Artists the painting Backyards by Edward L. Loper. We have asked the Robert Carlen Galleries to arrange for the shipment of this, if you are willing to lend it, along with others which he has.

We would also like to borrow, if possible, the painting by Horace Pippin entitled, The End of War - Starting Home.

If possible, we would like to get photographs of these two paintings which we could use for reproductive purposes.

Sincerely,

J. D. H. J.
J. D. Hatch, Jr.,
Director.
