RE: Horance Pippin, Black Artist
1889-1946

Dear Mr. Carlen,

After receiving little response to my inquiries from Mr. Rodman, can you possibly supply me with information concerning the following:

1). location of the four autobiographies mentioned in the preface of Mr. Rodman's book.

2). location or availability of Pippin's discharge papers.

3). location or availability of Pippins medical records or any personal information that can be researched.

4). any living member(s) of the Pippin family and/or friends, acquaintances.

5). Pippin's religious training , baptismal records, etc.

If you cannot answer these questions, could you please direct me to other sources (i.e. historical society, American Legion, town records of West Chester) if necessary. I am enclosing a self addressed, stamped envelope for your convenience.

Sincerely yours,
James H. Rowland
