If I had continued to live in Philadelphia, I would have
continued to be your friend and customer, and you would not
have questioned my integrity if I had asked for certifica-
tion of the Pippin.

However, fate had it otherwise and I moved west. From this distance in time, when I now ask for the document of certi-fication- as a courtesy- you brush aside our years of friend-
ship and in a sense, question my integrity in asking for
such a document. My brother, Edward Biberman, can vouch for
the fact that I've had the Pippin all these years, as can
my daughter, other members of my family, as well as my
friends.

Sending the picture east involved the trouble of crating
it, shipping it east and back. I do not so much mind going
to that trouble, but I do dislike troubling Milton Laskin.
It means we would have to re-pack, re-crate it, and then see
that it was called for. I heartily dislike troubling him tO
that extent.

I am leaving town for a two week vacation September the
twelfth and I would like to have this matter settled before
I leave. I would appreciate it enormously if you would re-consider your conversation with me, and issue the Certificate
of Provenance from the photograph you have of it, and from
the point of view of my former friendship, patronage and your belief in my integrity.

Please call me as soon as you receive this letter and Just
reverse the charges. If you are adamant in your decision
that you must see the Pippin, then I will send it to Milton
before I leave. I will await your phone call! My warmest
regards to both you and Alice and I hope your visit to see
your daughter and grandchild was a pleasant one.

Cordially,
Rhea Wachsman
