Mr. James McLaughlin
The Phillips Collection
1600 21 Street, NW
Washington, D.C. 20009

Dear Jim:

I think the Phillips Collection will be my savior after last week's experience. Both you and Laughlin treated me so gently for I was really upset about the situation. Many thanks.

I visited Mr. Grossman and he was most cordial but I feel that it will be necessary for you to make the teip [[trip]] to Philadelphia for they are very much involved with their pictures and it is the Phillips Collection that is allowing them to consider the loan of their pictures. The have given me a color transparency of WEST CHESTER COURTHOUSE, 1940,, I will be happy to visit any other collections with you or alone. Just let me know so I can make the arrangements. I am enclosing a copy of Mr. Milano's letter. He is not as interested in art but is very interested in the project as a whole especially when it concerns the Schomburg Library.

Hope to hear from you soon.

                                       Best,
                                        Terry
