heretofore been reported to Maj. John Leonard, U.S.A Comr at Atlanta, and that he had taken action in regard to them, I at once proceeded to that place to examine the records of his office, and found that the outrages referred to, had at different times been reported by him to your Head Quarters, and I also found another case had been reported to him, Sept 1st 1866, and that a freedman named Wm. Daniels, had appeared before him, and made affidavit that two citizens of Heard County, named, Tom Pearson and Bill Pitman, belonging to this gang of outlaws, known as the "Black Cavalry" had chased said Wm. Daniels (freedman) and ran him into the woods, and had shot at him seven times, he also gave at the same time, a list of those whom he knew belonged to this Band as follows:

Tom Pearson and Bill Pitman, who reside at Corinth, Heard Co. Ga.
Anderson Couch, (connected with killing Daniels) resides at Eastside Chattahoochee, near Bushy Head Shoals.
Mr Fritwell, west side Chattahoochee, near Bushy's Head, Shoals 
Wm Favours, west side Chattahoochee, near Bushy's Head, Shoals
