Major

I wish to ask a personal favor of you. I forwarded on the 6th inst an application to be mustered out of the United States Service immediately

It is very important to me, pecuniarly, that I should get out at once, as I have an offer of business that I must accept at once or never, and as I am not to be retained permanently in the Army I feel that I should be allowed to quit the service now, when a profitable investment offers.

Will you do me the favor to use your influence in securing my muster-out at once, and Telegraph the result to Genl Foust, or Major Deane, at Charleston
