Burkesville, Ky.
Novr 26, 1866.

Sir.

I respectfully return the enclosed papers with the order relieving me from duty in the Freedman Bureau, which order explains itself.

Neglect of duty has never been charged to me, to my knowledge; & I hereby assure you that I have forwarded my Reports promptly whenever I had blanks on which to do so, & often times wrote repeatedly for, before receiving them: I did my duty faithfully as far as I knew it, up to the time I was relieved; & in addition to this I furnished all the books, stationery & postage for the use of the office: I also employed an Agent in Monroe Co, to look after the office of the Bureau, draw contracts &c for which I paid him $52.00: I also paid $7.25 expense of horse hire for the purpose of riding about my district on official business all of which I never charged one cent for

I only ask that I may receive justice & not be misrepresented.

Respectfully submitted
