Hon E. M. Stanton
Sec of War

I beg leave to call to your attention the distinguished services of a very meritorious young officer Lieut G. E. Henry 14 Regt Vet. Res. Corps.
His gallantry on more than one hard fought field, three crippling musket shot wounds, and the hearty commendation of every officer under whom he has served plead strongly for a brevet of both Capt and Major. A soldier, a gentleman, and excellent, honest and faithful officer, the reward will be well bestowed.
Very respectfully
