prevent the spreading of the disease.- The conflict of the State and United States laws has appeared in two cases in this district:- the prompt action of the colored people however, in bringing the matter before the Sub Commissioner forced a compliance with the "Civil Rights Bill," and the other case is now undergoing investigation by the Sub Commissioner. 

A colored man was shot in the City of Jackson and no notice taken of it until reported by one of the Bureau officers twenty four hours thereafter. 
The one school open is now diminishing in numbers on account of the sickness prevailing; otherwise it is doing well.-
