Personally appeared before me this fourteenth day of September, 1866, Robert M. Hood, residing in Patapsco Farm the property of Ross Winans, Baltimore County Md. who, being duly sworn, makes the following statement: I went to the camp at Shipley's Woods on Saturday morning, on the 25th August, 1866, and remained there all the time; everything was quiet on Thursday, the 30th, and about dusk I went down to the darkeys meeting, in company with a Lady, and stayed twenty minutes; had no idea then of a riot; went back to my father's tent
