not do, I only saw one that I recognized - he goes by the name of "Dick." he had a club in his hand but used no threatening attitude towards me, all the negroes I saw there had either clubs or pistols - those negroes were swearing, halloaing and saying "Come on you damn white son's of bitches, we're ready for you," then I left and went out of the circle, on my return to the circle, there was a charge or a rush and rapid firing from the negroes. I cannot tell who commenced the firing - I then went down to the alter of the white people, saw a colored man being knocked down by white men - I did not know the white men. The name of the black man was "Jerry," a servant of Mrs. Wesley. I then went to the corner of the last tent on the east side of the preachers stand - saw a tall white man with a linnen coat on firing a pistol toward the colored people - the colored people also firing at him. I saw nothing of the burning of the tents of the colored people.
This is all I know about the riot.
