be no impropriety in allowing them to pitch their tents upon the Camp Ground, Permission was therefore given them.

The Colored persons then pitched their tents about 40 yards in the rear of the Preacher's Stand, to the number of 4 or 5.
   
There were on the ground about 75 or 80 tents occupied by white persons.

Good order prevailed, among both White and Colored, until about 7 o'clock on Thursday Evening Aug 30th, when some men under the influence of liquor approached the Colored people's meeting, and commenced to annoy them by throwing clubs, cantelope, &c. among the Colored people, while they were worshiping.   A Colored man came to the Managers', and informed them of the misconduct of those persons interrupting them who were unknown to the Managers and the informer. The Managers concluded to remain upon the ground, to protect the Colored persons while and worship, and did
