while standing between the white and colored people and endeavring to quell the riot.  I felt something strike me on the shin, soon after I felt something strike my hat, on approaching the light, after the riot was quelled, I noticed a small hole in my stoking and the skin on my leg fractured and a hole through my hat, when I received this I was standing with my face towards the preachers stand with my back towards the colored people.
