I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communications of July 9th and July 19th, in reference to the entry of lands under the present Homestead Law.

In reply to your request I would respectfully forward copies of the Reports of the U.S. Land Register and State Agent, for the Little Rock District. In pursuance of your instructions Dr W. W. Granger has been employed during the past two months in surveying and entering lands for the freedmen who have made application. Something has been accomplished, though but few of the freed people will be able to avail themselves of the privilege of the law until they
