Dear sir
Excuse the liberty I take in writing to you, but you will readily excuse me I know when I tell you that I regard you as one of my best friends, for is not "a friend in need a friend indeed?" and such you were to me and believe me I shall ever feel grateful and hope that for that and all similar deeds of charity you will reap your reward hereafter.  I stopped in So Carolina and spent some time with my mother. I met your brother on the train at Raleigh and was much pleased to meet any relative of yours, though some
