Our last Legislature passed an act as follows
Sec. 1st. - "The General Assembly do enact. That from & after the passage of this Act it shall not be lawful for any person to employ any servant in the employment of another for & during his term of service, and if any person, by himself or agent shall be guilty of employing the servant of another during the term for which he, or she, or they may be employed, knowing that such servant was so employed, and that his term of service was not expired, or if any person or persons shall entice, persuade, or decoy, or attempt to entice, persuade, or decoy, [[crossed out]] any servant [[/crossed out]] any servant to leave his employer, either by offering higher wages, or in any other way whatever, during the term of service, hiring that said servant was so employed, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be fined any sum not more than two hundred Dollars or confined in the common jail of the County in the discretion of the Court.
