Personally appeared Edward Hartley Cold who after being duly sworn deposeth and saith that on the fifth of January 1867. - He and his wife and two children 13 & 7 year of age, commenced work for Thomas Downs of Washington County of this state, he had agreed to give me for myself and family one hundred & seventy five Dollars for our services for the year 1867. _. On the 16th of this month Wm a son of Mr Downs having charge of his fathers business, and myself was going that day to assist a neighbor to kill hogs, it was necessary for us to take a bucket with us, which William had left, I remarked that I thought he should have taken it or that he could take it as well as I could.
