Sir!

I have request respectfully for a detail as Messenger, Watchman or Orderly in your Department.
I am at present a private in Comp: "G" 44th U.S. Infantry (V.R.C.) served during the Campaigne in Mexico under Colonel Bankhead, and received an honorable discharge. During the last Civil War, I enlisted in the 7th Hd Infantry Regt and was wounded at Spotsylvania Courthouse, lost one finger, and the use of the left hand; afterwards I served in the 2nd, Invalid Corps for 13 months and received an honorable discharge.

In hope to find a situation as Watchman, Messenger, or Orderly, in one of the departements I reenlisted in
