Vol 2d 1867 States that Dr. Lewis Miller of Kinston, N.C., has been requested by the colored people in his vicinity to act a Bureau Agent to aid them in becoming settled under the homestead act, and desires to be informed whether, rations for 3 months and transportation to the point of settlement cannot be procured for these people.
