I James Berry do solemnly swear in the presence of almighty God, that I will henceforth faithfully support, protect, and defend the constitution of the United States and the Union of the States thereunder; and that I will in like manner abide by and faithfully support all laws of the United States, and of the state of Mississippi in subordination thereto; and that I will respect and obey in their several departments the civil and the military officers of the United States, not excepting those of the Bureau of Refugees Freedmen and Abandoned Lands; that I will encourage others so to do: and that I take this oath without evasion or mental reservation; so help me God.
