Having formerly been attached to your staff during the Atlanta campaigne as Asst. Inspt. of Arty under Major J. W. Powell I take the liberty of addressing you in regard to securing a position in the Freedmans Bureau, in some of the Southern states, as Clerk, or Teacher

Trusting that the desire I have to be connected with that Dept. will be a sufficient apoligy for addressing you, and that you will please answer informing me of the necessary steps to secure the appointment
