Saturday Oct 9, 98 Charlene, Bob is recovering from lung surgery. My mother just celebrated #90. When I heard that you had a relative (your stepmother?) coming to Charleston to enter managed care, I realized that you and I are in about the same spot on life's pathway. Bob is recovering well and should be just fine. However, my mother is in slow decline - I always worry when fall/winter approaches and the cold & flu season is upon us. I am happy to hear of your plans and want you to know that I will miss you more than you can know. Though we seldom see one another, I have always thought of you as a friend in an often unfriendly journey. You are going to be increasingly occupied with family needs - as am I. Simply know that you are often in my thoughts. God speed. Mary Douglas
