"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." - Matthew 1:23

December 8, 1998

Dear Parishioners,

As we approach Christmas, a sacred time for the christian church, we anxiously await the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Just think how meaningless this season would be without Christ.

During this Advent Season our emotions are stirred with excitement. It is a time when merchants seize the season to capitalize on consumers. It also allows us to reflect upon the importance of giving, to be Holy, to pray and worship.

For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten son. It is in this yuletide season that love, joy, and reconciliation is displayed; seldom seen in any other season. People are friendlier and charitable. Children and adults glow with the expectation of exchanging gifts, listening to the beautiful music, and enjoying family.

Yet, it is a difficult time for many who are experiencing a void, (No Christ Child, No Wonderful Counselor, No Prince of Peace) in their lives. It brings back precious memories of yesterdays. We see pain of depression and loneliness due to the demise of family members, friends and parishioners.

I love Christmas because it affords me as Pastor, as husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle to give praises and thanksgiving to God for a wonderful, loving, and supporting family, as well as my extended church family.

My wife joins me in wishing you a blessed Christmas and a glorious and prosperous New Year.
