| June 8th 1866 #148. | Ward Henry Late Capt 1st U.S.C.T See "W" 175 Vol 7. | Herkimer NJ June 6th 66 States that when he was relieved from duty in the Bureau at Plymouth NC he left a horse in charge of a colored man named Pettiford to be sold. The horse has been sold for $130.00 and the money turned over to Lt. Tennant Agent of the Bureau. | June 9th Respectfully referred to Asst Commissioner North Carolina for report APK A.A.A.G June 23d 1866 Received back with endorsement of Capt F A Seeley stating that the horse was seized for debt and the balance of the money not required to pay his debts to the Bureau are borne on his returns. It is possible to refund the money at any time but it being assumed that the horse belonged to Gov't recommends its retention. June 25 Respectfully returned to Henry Ward whose attention is invited to endorsement of Capt Seeley hereon. APK A.A.A.G |
