great impact on each other. Brarcusi [[above]] Brancusi [[/above], who I think was a great sculptor, opened the world to looking at form in a different way. And painters. I can't escape mentioning my friend Duchamp, who really painted something as had never been painted before. And Picasso had a genius for the decorative. All of this is different from what we call traditional painting. I don't quite understand art of just squares or just color being considered art. I don't know. I like folk Art.

G: Why?

B: Well, Folk Art isn't pretentious. It comes from the heart. A great deal of art nowadays is pretentious. Yet it's silly to talk about art, we all have different points of view about it.

G: Who would you consider a pretentious artist. I won't quote you.

B: I don't know, but a lot of potters are concerned first with exhibitions. A lot of painters also. They do things many times to, as they say in France, "...excite the Fireman." Just as a woman came to me and showed me three sculptures that she made. They were alright. They were good. But what of it? She said from that, "Should I become an artist??
