Dear Beatrice.. 

I'm taking advantage of my noon hour to write you.

I appreciate the fact that Maxine did not fully realize what she was doing. I did not think that myself, but there was nothing to be done about it as I could hardly have told her [[strikethrough]] that [[/strikethrough]] what I thought at the time with any degree of success.

The main objection that I have to make is that Maxine does not, apparently, want me to have the children and yet she herself is only to willing to give them up. Now I ask you, do you think that is a fair attitude. Why
