Dear Isabel

You didn't sign the map! What will the scholars say when they come on this poor drawing by I.B.?

Here is a letter from David Lowall. He has the same job (plus a little bit) that John Canaday once had. (and comes from the same part of the world) There was no comparable museum for Canaday to be curator of - so he was just a professor of ART HISTORY, But John was and is most talented. I'm sure David is working harder for his pay.

I've written David that he is to cover your motel (going down) in Frederick, Md., on Apr 22, and is to reserve & pay for your single at Howard Johnson, Charlottesville, for the nights: Wed 23/Thurs 24/Fri 25/ and he is to reserve & pay for your plane back to N.Y. I figure that you and I will not want to paid for the evening session that is mentioned in his letter. We can call it a 232nd birthday present for Mr. Jefferson - born in April.

I think this brings us up to date! I send you David's letter because its so obvious that he would love to have a chance to do a piece on you for the Times. And, I know he is looking forward to meeting you. We joining in most affectionate greetings.
