Dear Isabel,
Years ago an edition of the Virginia Quarterly told me that the early settlers of Ivy Depot were Remittance Men. (Ivy Depot is where we had our 5 acres) And I have told you what John Sloan said about artists: - they're like mushrooms - some are poisonous (but not all) - enough are to make you respect the whole lot. The address Ivy Depot always seems attractive in just that way: essentially, as easy going and friendly as can be, but with a warning: The ivy might be the three leaved variety!
It's possible that David doesn't know about the early days of Ivy - or the observation of Sloan, so, it seems like a good time to have him take
