Dear Otto,

You may be perfectly right about my handling of this, but there was no unfriendlyness intended

Please let me explain. I had the two girls for the holidays and it didn't leave me a free minute.

I wanted to answer and explain in a typed letter in which I could have a copy. I don't type. I have to go to Glens Falls to get this done. I couldn't get away at the time.

I had to get the payment off to you dated in 1958 (tax purposes) and it took all I could do, to arrange it and get it postmarked 1958. I just did not have time to explain. Cooking washing and taking care of the two girls didn't leave me a minute. I did not forsee how it might appear. Im sorry, nothing unfriendly was intended I had stopped in to see you when you had the sore foot. I could have talked the matter with you.

The 'go with French Co' is an unfortunate expression. I am not going with French Co. I am considering 2 commissions from them. And I am considering the offer of a show of my 12 to 18 ft work within the next year or two 1960 or 61. The size of these works are such that only a high place, roof or museum garden could accommodate them.
