[[note]] Glackens [[/note]] Dear Edith: Your beautiful letter [[strikethrough]] about Will [[/strikethrough]] is [[strikethrough]] sim [[/strikethrough]] a reflection of your own brave and loving soul. I always had the deepest feeling for you and William Glackens who is in my [[strikethrough]] opinion [[/strikethrough]] belief at the top of American Art. There is no artist I thought more of or as much. [[strikethrough]] A grea [[/strikethrough]] A truly great man. I love him for his owrk and for himself. [[strikethrough]] Please call on me for any service I can give. [[/strikethrough]] His aging is a profound loss to me. There was no one whose opinion I thought more of. [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] Commendation from Will fortified me [[strikethrough]] against [[/strikethrough]] and gave me peace and confidence. Dear Edith: The chipping in to buy a picture by an artist was not my idea. I simply did [[strikethrough]] the work [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] some of the work because I was asked to. The idea was suggested in the [[strikethrough]] last [[/strikethrough]] case of Bruce by Olin Dows and Forbes Watson. It would never occur to me to do any such thing [[strikethrough]] because I do not consider it entirely dignified in Willis [[/strikethrough]] nor do I consider it necessary or desirable for any artist of the highest class. [[strikethrough]] Most emphatically it would not be the thing to do not it is out of the question [[/strikethrough]] You know Edith that [[strikethrough]] all [[/strikethrough]] in all things I will be at your call and will be grateful if you will allow me to be of any service whatever.
