D   On esthetic grounds, few art critics considered the huge diorama entitled "Cotton Picking", which was created for the Chic. World's Fair, a wk. of art. But they would hardly have gone as far as Uncle Sam who demeans it as "a manufacture of pulp", since the fig. were covered with real clothes & real cotton was incorp. into the scene.

The famas [[famous]] Cubist collages have been, of course, considered mere "manufacture of paper" and a large & important Matisse collage —— conceived as a design for a stained glass window —— was recently denoted to the same category.
