Sunday, February 8, 1953 - NEW YORK, N.Y. You phoned me from the airport and I was somewhat embarrassed, for by this time I had been told you were going to marry Shu and so I didn't want to be presumptuous and take your time nor suggest the Langdon if you weren't interested in seeing me intimately. But somehow we stammered around and did settle on the Langdon and for the biggest share of time...and then the black coat was by the threshold again and we made love and that time there was greater closeness and wonder and then we were getting a bell-hop and your skis and suitcases and we came here and we read the article. Then there was the taxi to Idlewild and we read the article again and there was a drink in the bar and you bought a Paper-Mate (who was stealing them then?) and then you said "If there is noone here you know, I will kiss you." There wasn't anyone I knew (and even if there had been I would immediately have ceased my acquaintanceship) and you did--and that was why I guess I cried all the way home in the taxi and confessed to the taxi-driver how I felt.
