Contracts generally are made for the month. It is believed the freedmen understand the force of their obligations, and Endeavor to comply with them.

A few cases of old, sick and infirm in need of assistance are reported. 

Two schools are in operation. There are about One Hundred and fifty children in the vicinity of Handsboro and Mississippi City, who would probably attend school, if sufficient means were provided to fit up a suitable school house, and a teacher supplied. It is believed that through the influence of a greater number of schools among the freedpeople,
