I respectfully submit the following report of Captn L.J. Wright A.q M & D.O.

Under my instructions, Capt. Wright has directed his attentions principally to the purchasing and Shipping Materials for the erection of School Houses for Freed People; Materials have been shipped, or furnished for 27 School Houses - 16 in Maryland & 11 in Delaware. The principal part of these Materials were taken from the 16 Hospital Wards, purchased of the Q.M. Dept. last October. From 3 to 7 Carpenters have been employed in the demolition of these Wards from April 4th to June 15th Only one (1) Ward now remains standing, Which is used for a Colored Old Womans  Home. The expenses of the erection of most of the School Houses is borne by the Freed People. Nails have been purchases for 17 of the School Houses and Lumber and other Materials have been purchased for those at Elkton, Easton, Denton, and Potters Landing Md.

Ten of the School Houses have been furnished through the Baltimore Association for the Colored People, the rest by the Bureau directly.
