It has come to the knowledge of this office that some of the attendants employed in Hospitals for Freedmen when first established in the southern states, during the years 63 & 64, have claims for unpaid services, rendered during a portion of that period, It is the desire of the commissioner to be informed Whether there are any such claims existing in Your Dist. if so, you will please furnish as soon as [[strikethrough]] possible [[/strikethrough]] practible a list of [[strikethrough]] such [[/strikethrough]] the names of these persons, Where employed, in What capacity, by whose authority, the rates of [[strikethrough]] per [[/strikethrough]] pay, month, & the date of beginning, and end of service for which no payment has been made.
