It will appear from copies of letters (herein enclosed) received by Barry from McBride, that he (Barry) has written since his arrival in Mississippi, to McBride on matters referred to in his com'n to the Commissioner of August 8th  1867.  A copy of a communication received by the Postmaster at Goodman Miss. - evidently in the handwriting of Mr. McBride, - but signed with an assumed name, is also enclosed.

From all information I have been able to gain, I am of the opinion that these matters have been brought forward by Mr. McBride through personal malice towards Mr. Barry, and as no evidence, other than Mr. B's own statements can
